Britam Uganda Certified as a Top Employer 2025 in Uganda and in Africa
Kampala, August 18th 2025… Britam has achieved a historic milestone by becoming the first insurance company in Uganda to be certified as a Top Employer 2025 by the globally renowned Top Employers Institute (TEI). In addition, Britam has secured the prestigious Top Employer Africa 2025 recognition, following the certification of its operations in Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, and Mozambique. This marks the first time Britam has earned both the Country Seal and the Africa Seal, a powerful endorsement of its commitment to creating an exceptional workplace across the continent.
Britam distinguished itself with an overall score of 94.5%, significantly surpassing the global benchmark. The recognition reflects outstanding performance across six core HR domains and 20 critical areas, including people strategy, work environment, talent acquisition, learning, diversity & inclusion, and wellbeing.
Britam’s people-first philosophy is rooted in its purpose of Safeguarding Dreams and Aspirations. Through initiatives such as Life@Britam, the School of Life programs – including SheThrives and ManCave, Women in Leadership, and wellness initiatives like the Employee Assistance Program - Britam empowers employees to feel heard, supported, and valued. The company also places strong emphasis on career growth and meaningful employee experiences, ensuring that working at Britam is not just a job but a fulfilling journey.
Britam Group Managing Director, Tom Gitogo, and Britam Chief Executive Officer, Allan Mafabi, attributed this achievement to the innovation and commitment of the company’s employees, fondly known as the Blue Tribe.
“Our people and winning culture are at the heart of this milestone, a true testament to the passion and commitment of the Blue Tribe,” Tom added.
“At Britam, we strive to cultivate an environment where our people feel valued and supported to achieve their best. This milestone reflects our belief that investing in our people is crucial for delivering exceptional results,” Martin added.
“This is a badge of honor for every member of #TheBlueTribe Uganda, whose passion drives our vision forward. We’ll continue to promote inclusivity, wellbeing, and growth to empower everyone to make meaningful contributions,” said Evelyne Munyoki, Britam HR Director.
As Britam celebrates its 60th Anniversary this year, this certification is a pivotal moment in its journey as a leading financial services provider and a pioneer in workplace innovation across Africa. This recognition not only signifies Britam’s commitment to its employees but also to its stakeholders and clients, as the company establishes new benchmarks in creating an inspiring workplace that delivers lasting value.
Top Employers Institute CEO David Plink applauded the achievement:
